In today's world, most people are used to taking pills for their medical problems. Sometimes it seems that there's a prescription for every conceivable health issue. However, every time you take a pill, you run the risk of a number of unpleasant side effects. Of course, when trying to combat hemorrhoids, you often want to use whatever you can including pills. It would be a mistake, though, to dismiss the help that the plant kingdom can offer. There are a number of herbs and fruits you can use to help with your hemorrhoids, and they often have less risk of bad side effects and interactions than traditional allopathic medication.

Once you get hemorrhoids the first time, you will always be more likely to suffer from them in the future. The main reason for this long term effect is because of how hemorrhoids develop to begin with. A hemorrhoid starts from a weak point in a vein ballooning out. There usually has to be a lot of blood pressure over a fairly long period of time to create and exploit such a weak point. So, there are a lot of veins in the area, they have been put under a lot of chronic pressure and one weak point has given way. In all likelihood, it's not the only weak point that was created. So, now you have a whole mass of weakened veins that will probably continue to produce hemorrhoids, especially if put under a lot of pressure. Herbs and fruits don't just heal the hemorrhoids you have at the moment, they help strengthen the vein walls to keep you from getting them again in the future.

The best fruits to use are dark colored ones. Blackberries, blueberries, cherries, red grapes, plums, raisins and prunes are all helpful for hemorrhoids. In addition to offering plenty of standard nutrition, these sorts of fruits have a few specialized chemical compounds that help with vein wall health and circulatory health in particular. Flavonoids, anthocyanosides, rutin and hydroxythylrutosides are the four main categories of fruit-borne chemical compounds that can help with hemorrhoids, and all of those fruits have those chemical compounds in varying proportions.

The herbs that help with hemorrhoids often have many of the same chemical compounds in more concentrated form. Others have individual chemical compounds that do the same thing. A few also have other active constitutents, including vasoconstrictors, which make veins narrower, and analgesics, which help with pain management. Remember that many of our modern medications come from herbal sources and that herbs can be just as powerful medicine as any traditional medication. Use caution and find out everything you can about any herb you intend to use, especially if you have chronic health problems. Hyssop, horse chestnut, butcher's broom and Japanese pagoda tree are the most common herbs. If you prefer to use essential oils, pelargonium, cypress and niaouli are the preferred ones for hemorrhoid treatment.

As you can see, there are a lot of options open to you if you want to treat your hemorrhoids with botanicals. If you use them as part of a comprehensive hemorrhoids healing program, you'll often get very good results. The key to a permanent cure is to combine your other measures with a healthy, high-fiber diet, get enough exercise and aggressively manage any other health conditions that may cause excess strain and pressure from the abdomen. This combination will give you the best results you can possible get, hopefully leading to a hemorrhoid free life.
